The duration of the trip by tourist bus from Puno to Copacabana is approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. The trip begins with a journey of 2 hours and 45 minutes to Kasani (Peru – Bolivia border), where we will complete the immigration process (approx. 20 to 30 minutes). Afterwards, we continue the trip for about 30 minutes more until we reach Copacabana, a famous destination on the shores of Lake Titicaca, known for its religious celebrations and for being the access point to the mystical Islands of the Sun and the Moon.
During the trip you will enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Titicaca, as the route borders the lake, offering unforgettable panoramic views. The service is carried out in tourist buses with attention on board for greater comfort.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
- Time difference: Bolivia is 1 hour ahead of Peru.
- (Example: if in Peru it is 02:00 p.m., in Bolivia it will be 03:00 p.m.)
- Migratory procedure: A mandatory stop will be made in Kasani (Peru – Bolivia border) to carry out the migratory control. It is necessary to present a valid passport and/or identity card.
- Money exchange: We recommend exchanging money in Kasani, as the exchange rate is usually more favorable than in Bolivia. You will find money exchange offices near the immigration post.
- Arrival in Copacabana: Arrival at the bus terminal, located at the intersection of Av. 6 de Agosto and Av. 16 de Julio.
We recommend you to carry your documents in order for a fast and safe transit.
To cross into Bolivia, keep the following in mind:
- Valid passport: Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months. You must present it at the Desaguadero border.
- SIGEMIG registration: Don’t worry! We’ll help you with this immigration process before you board the bus. Each traveler needs their own registration—yes, even the little ones! This is required by the SIGEMIG system. Once it’s ready, save the QR code on your phone to show it at the Desaguadero border.
- Tourist visa: If you’re from the United States, Israel, or the European Union, good news! You no longer need a visa to enter Bolivia as a tourist (for up to 90 days). We had a lovely time! Manuel was our tour guide and he was so informative, responsive and friendly. All the tour guides seemed amazing, but we didn’t have much experience with other groups. Honestly, this trip was an incredible value. It had out of this world views. If you love weaving or textiles in general, you will love meeting all these amazing artisans, and you will love learning about Lake Titicaca. If you are in Puno, and you have time, do yourself a favor and book this trip, you won’t regret it!
