GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Time difference: Bolivia is 1 hour ahead of Peru.
  • (Example: if in Peru it is 02:00 p.m., in Bolivia it will be 03:00 p.m.)
  • Migratory procedure: A mandatory stop will be made in Kasani (Peru – Bolivia border) to carry out the migratory control. It is necessary to present a valid passport and/or identity card.
  • Money exchange: We recommend exchanging money in Kasani, as the exchange rate is usually more favorable than in Bolivia. You will find money exchange offices near the immigration post.
  • Arrival in Copacabana: Arrival at the bus terminal, located at the intersection of Av. 6 de Agosto and Av. 16 de Julio.

We recommend you to carry your documents in order for a fast and safe transit.

To cross into Bolivia, keep the following in mind:

  • Valid passport: Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months. You must present it at the Desaguadero border.
  • SIGEMIG registration: Don’t worry! We’ll help you with this immigration process before you board the bus. Each traveler needs their own registration—yes, even the little ones! This is required by the SIGEMIG system. Once it’s ready, save the QR code on your phone to show it at the Desaguadero border.
  • Tourist visa: If you’re from the United States, Israel, or the European Union, good news! You no longer need a visa to enter Bolivia as a tourist (for up to 90 days). But be aware: some nationalities do require one. To confirm whether this applies to you, text us your nationality at +51 966 364 437 , and we’ll be happy to provide personalized advice.

Very complete and well organized tour

Visiting these islands is a worthwhile experience. The guide took us by boat to the Uros islands, where we could talk with local families and then take a ride on the typical boats made of reeds.

Then we continued the tour of Lake Titicaca to Taquile. There we were welcomed with music and typical dances in a small handicraft market. Then we had lunch and while we ate, the guide told us details about the history and culture of the place.

I chose to do it by speedboat, which I highly recommend. You can leave your belongings in the boat since it is the same boat that accompanies you throughout the tour.

The excursion had pick up and drop off at the hotel, so, in short, a very complete and well organized tour, ideal to learn about life and traditions in the lake.
