This adventure begins with pick up from your hotel in downtown Arequipa. Our first stop will be the Mirador de Yanahuara, from where we will enjoy a privileged panoramic view of Arequipa and the Misti, Chachani and Pichupichu volcanoes. We will visit the emblematic arches of sillar, the white volcanic stone that characterizes the colonial architecture of the White City.
We continue to the Añashuayco Quarry, where the iconic sillar stone is extracted. Still in activity, this impressive canyon of white walls up to 30 meters high will allow us to know closely the carving process, while the master builders explain the techniques and traditional uses of this stone.
Then we will visit the Quebrada de Culebrillas, an ancient quarry now inactive. We will take a light hike of approximately 20 minutes through this narrow canyon, where we will observe mysterious petroglyphs engraved on its walls.
On the way back to the city, we will appreciate the apachetas, stone mounds located along the ancient Inca Trail, considered ancestral offerings that envelop the place in a unique mystical and cultural atmosphere.
